Disputing Judgments is Your Right:

Since Congress passed the Fair Credit Reporting Act to help consumers remove judgments from their credit reports, the credit bureaus have been working to make it more difficult. With almost twenty years of experience, Lexington Law has developed a vast arsenal of tools and strategies >

How Removing Judgments Saves You Gobs of Money:

Credit is a part of our life, like it or not. And the credit companies are doing just fine without you giving them more money than you have to. An unfair judgment will make your credit score plunge, and your interest rates sky rocket. If you don't think investing in your credit is worth it, guess again >

What is a Judgment?

A judgment is a settlement awarded in the favor of a creditor for a delinquent debt by a court-of-law. The judgment will appear on your credit report after you have gone deliquent on the payments for a while, and the creditor has decided it's worth the costs and the time to take the case to court to try and recover the debt.

Of course, the creditor will try to reclaim the debt any way they can, but once the judgment is on your report, it's going to stay on for 7 years, even if you pay it off. There is only one way to get the judgment removed from your credit report: dispute the judgment with the credit bureaus that are reporting it.

An example of a judgment on a credit report:

Disputing a judgment is your right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. You can do this by yourself, or by using a credit restoration service, like Lexington Law. The credit bureaus don't like doing work they don't profit from, so they've kept on top of stall tactics that keep most consumers from continuing with a dispute if they hit a snag. In the battle to remove judgments, Lexington Law has developed many strategies from their vast years of experience to overcome these tactics.

Once you remove a judgment, your credit score will go up drastically. Of course, the amount varies based on where you get your credit score, what else is hurting your credit score, and where you started in the first place. But one thing's for certain: Deleting a judgment can only help.
